| Hello Students, Parents, Colleagues, Community Members, and School Partners,
It gives me great honor to lead the next generation of innovators, technologists and independent thinkers. Here at Francis Scott Key School, students are provided opportunities that extend and refine learning. The expectations for each child, whether advanced academic, citywide program, enrichment program, or general studies, is to maximize his or her potential while seizing every opportunity that is afforded.
Our students are fortunate in being a part of one of Maryland's leading schools in technology education for elementary and middle school age children. FSK benefits from its proximity to Mayor O'Malley's "Digital Harbor," and has benefited from association with several local business partners. The opportunities inherent in our school and our community are vast - we are striving to implement appropriate instructional strategies that will take our students to the maximum level of academic achievement. Learning is extended beyond the school day as students participate in academics (i.e., Calvert Partnership), clubs (i.e., drama, Spanish, cheerleading, chess, Destination Imagination), and sports (i.e., soccer, lacrosse, basketball, baseball).
My personal goal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate opportunities to enhance student educational experiences that relate to bridging the "digital divide" as we produce students who are technologically competent and prepared academically for meeting challenges that lie ahead. At FSK you will find a dedicated staff, a growing technology infrastructure, and a community with caring parents and supportive organizations that are all positive forces in the growth of our students. Our children are the "future" of our community, both locally and globally. It is exciting to participate in the education of your child at this exciting time of development in the South Baltimore/Locust Point community, Baltimore, and the world.
Parents are an integral part of FSK. I look forward to your participation in our family programs such as Men's Night Out, Ladies Night Out, Family Fun Night, PTA Report Card Nights, Citizenship Banquets, and Volunteer Days.
Mary L. Booker, Principal
"We Are the Key to the Future."
