School Appearance Policy
FSK is a "Uniform" School
|
School Appearance Code
Francis Scott Key has adopted a uniform policy. Data show that when students wear uniforms, they are more focused and there are less disciplinary problems in school. It is requested that students wear khaki pants, skirts or jumpers, with a white, gray or burgundy shirt. Please help your child and our school by supporting our uniform policy. Students who wear their uniform regularly will be rewarded periodically with incentives such as extra privileges and trips.
Please Note: FSK has a Uniform Bank. Please call the school if your child needs a uniform, or if you would like to donate uniform items. 410-396-1503
The Baltimore City Public School System Board of School Commissioners has adopted an "exclusionary" dress code for all schools, including Francis Scott Key. The following items are NOT to be worn:
- Fur and leather - real or imitation
- Sweat pants, or any other pants, that have elastic at the bottom of the leg
- Torn clothing which is designed to expose bare skin or underwear
- Jewelry - metal chains, ropes, necklaces, rings, extravagant earrings
- Skirts or shorts that are more than two inches above the knee
- Clothing with vulgar statements or that which promotes use of drugs, alcohol, sex or violence
- Headwear, such as hats, hair rollers, bandannas (Students whose religion requires head coverings must submit a written request from the clergy to the principal.)
- Slippers, thongs or flip-flops (Shoes must have at least a back strap.)
- Halter tops, tank tops muscle shirts or see-through tops.
If students wear these items, they may be sent home to change or someone will need to bring them appropriate clothing to change in school.
