Mentoring Program at FSK

A year-end "reward" trip was enjoyed by all at the Baltimore Zoo.

The Student Mentoring Program at Francis Scott Key Elementary Middle School trains eighth grade students to act as mentors to elementary school students. To be a student mentor, the student must be in good academic standing and consistently model good behaviors. Potential mentors are nominated by their teachers. Those who are interested in applying are required to submit an application and a written recommendation from a teacher or administrator, as well as complete a personal interview. Following a two day training, Student Mentors are paired with an elementary school student who has been identified as in need of extra support. The mentors spend 2-3 hours a week assisting their little buddies with their school work, playing games, and being a friend.
